Don't forget to buy/reserve your tickets HERE!
#11: At the gala, w will not only give you an amazing night with raffles, an art gallery, open bar,
and food-- but also a night of amazing community artists at #grpgala2015 #sustainingoursounds! Featuring: Little Strike [electronic collage project of beats, desert guitars, alien keyboards, and beautiful grins], Paulette Branson and Mixed People [funk soul raw + mixed exp], Wizard Apprentice [Oakland-based afrofuturist folk artist], and DJ Halfbreed, with welcome by Rhetta Morgan [west-Philly-based sound healer]!
#10: We are excited to announce our FIRST HEADLINER sponsor for the gala: Nochumson PC!
As a headliner sponsor, Nochumson P.C. is supporting the full value of 5 camper registrations. At summer camp and LRC, we operate on a sliding scale to make sure GRP can provide an experience accessible to folks regardless of funds. Supporters like Nochumson make it possible to keep our doors open to all participants. Come to the gala and you can help support this too!
Please find out more about Nochumson PC here:http://www.nochumson.com/
#8: Do you want a sneak peek at the logo for this year? Too bad, you're going to have to come to the gala to see this amazing design! Available only at the gala! We'll be selling limited-run shirts and totes with the gala logo by our 2015 design partner, Lucy Gleysteen (also designed the spring LRC and summer camp logos this year).
#7: Exactly 7 DAYS OUT from the gala - one week!!!!
Come to the gala, our biggest fundraiser of the year, and support youth empowerment! By supporting GRP, you have enabled us to launch two important teen-focused programs this year: our summer camp teen intern program, and our Youth Advisory Board.
This year we had two weeks of summer camp for the first time ever (!), and teen week culminated in an unforgettable showcase at Union Transfer. Four teens who attended camp week 1 were chosen from a pool of applicants to be paid interns at youth camp week 2. It was an amazing experience for all of us, and helped create a dynamic multigenerational learning space. Our interns got a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make camp run, developed their leadership skills, and got to be mentors to campers ages 9-12. PS- At the gala, you can buy the terrific gender zine they made!!!
We also just had the first meeting of our brand new Youth Advisory Board!! We want youth to have a voice at GRP, to be part of making the decisions that make this organization what it is. They shared a Pope pizza and talked about what they want to be involved with at GRP, and we can't wait to see how they shape our future!!
Help us grow these programs and empower these teens to be leaders in our communities!!
#6: We're going to raffle off some terrific items again this year! Come to the gala and enter for the chance to win fabulous prizes like gift cards, a cooler of ice cream, pedals, and gift packages! We've got lots of raffle prizes donated by our local friends like Rootbeer Audio, Weckerly's Ice Cream, Crash Bang Boom, Sketch Burger, Wake Up Yoga, Exotic Fever Records, Greensgrow Farms, and many many more!!
#5: We're happy to announce the gala's theme on #YOUTHRISING as well as a special community exercise from sound healer Rhetta Morgan as our gala welcome! Don't forget you'll be able to hear 3 summer camp youth bands and 1 youth DJ perform at the gala!
