#GRPUPRISING 11 DAY CHALLENGE

 

In celebration of our 11th year of summer camp, we are excited to announce that the 2017 Summer Camp Theme is upRISING! The theme was selected by our teen leadership board, Youth Action Council. Building upon past social justice themes that focused on youthRISING and phillyRISING, upRISING reflects our formalized organizational commitments to be a radical music organization dedicated to social change. As we operationalize these values, GRP needs your support to provide camp scholarships and collective leadership opportunities during this summer rock camp.

Starting June 19, we are putting out an 11-day #GRPupRISING fundraising challenge to raise $5K.  As a small organization, your support goes very far to ensuring that we grow in ways that further enable and strengthen our community power! Help us spread the word! Click here to donate to GRP!

Why #GRPupRISING? At GRP we are in an exciting moment of organizational transition. With our new mission statement and strategic plan, we are poised to grow not just as a music organization, but also as an organization fully committing to and operationalizing our social change values. We are thrilled to be following the leadership of Youth Action Council, who are building power inside and outside of GRP by shaping upcoming camp programs as well as hosting a political forum series called Girls Rock Resistance. Recently we launched a People of Color caucus group and look forward to creating more intentional caucus groups to  further invest in our volunteers and cultivate new community leaders. In this organizational transition, please make sure to support GRP’s vital work to center the voices and sounds of girls and trans youth!  

What can $5K do at Girls Rock Camp?                - Provide Stipends for 6-10 volunteer leadership positions                - Provide Full Tuition for 11 Campers (True camp cost to cover operating expenses is $450)

Because we are in a political moment that threatens both music education and safer creative spaces for youth, this is a critical moment to support Girls Rock Philly’s programming, work, and vision.
