Sad News for the GRP Community
All, We are writing with very heavy hearts to let you know that our dear friend, Natasha Rodriguez, passed away this weekend after a nearly year-long fight with lymphoma.
Natasha was an amazing contributor to the Girls Rock Philly community. She served as a longtime Board member, our Outreach Coordinator, and a vocals instructor and band coach at camp. She was an incredibly talented singer and a kind, funny, spirited person who brought joy to everyone she knew. We are devastated by her loss.
Please join us in extending our deepest sympathies to Natasha’s fiancé, Garrett Warshaw, and his sister Beth Warshaw-Duncan, both incredibly special members of our community, as well as the entire Rodriguez and Warshaw families.
A memorial for Natasha will take place Friday morning, June 22 at Liberti Church East in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. There will be a viewing at 9:30AM and closed-casket memorial at 10:30AM. You can find Liberti at 2424 E. York Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125. There is only street parking at Liberti, so please consider carpooling. Also, the church is a little more than a 1/2 mile from Berks station on the Market-Frankford line, so public transit is a viable option.
All who knew and loved Natasha are invited to post their thoughts and memories on her Facebook page.We also invite all of you to share with us on the Girls Rock Philly Facebook page. Post a song, a memory, a feeling to remember Natasha and tell us how you are doing. Terrible moments like this make us realize how much we truly are a community of people who care for and support each other. We want to be there for you, as well.
As the days pass we will be giving thought to how GRP can best honor and celebrate Natasha and all that she gave us. We welcome everyone’s ideas.
We rock because of Natasha, and we will always love her.
