Greetings from Andrea, the new Creative Director!
Hi friends of GRP!
My name is Andrea Jácome, and I just wanted to give an electronic hello to say I’m humbled and excited to be joining the GRP community as the new Creative Director of GRP.
To share a little bit about myself: I’m from Atlanta by way of Colombia and Ecuador with a background in popular education, cultural organizing, and booking. For the past 4 years, I’ve been a workshop facilitator and board member of Taller de Paz, a transnational project empowering internally displaced youth in Suba, Colombia by way of creative workshop programming ranging in urban agriculture to Mujeres Unidas!. Five years ago, I moved to the area to study Swarthmore College where I majored in History and Latin American Studies. As the former booking director of Olde Club, I have co-curated shows ranging from burlesque to hip hop, in ways to particularly to center the work of womyn and gender nonconforming folx of color.
I’m really excited to bring these diverse experiences to GRP. Among juggling the many dynamic moving parts of GRP, I’ll be working on organizing the Ladies Rock Camps, seeking new sponsorships, as well as overseeing the marketing, communications and PR for GRP.
I look forward to seeing you all soon!
With warmth, Andrea
