CALL FOR SPRING LRC 2016 WORKSHOP PROPOSALS!
>>>APPLY TODAY TO LEAD A WORKSHOP AT LRC!<<<
We’re excited to launch a call for workshop proposals for our Spring 2016 LRC! LRC is our adult rock camp, and it will be held Friday April 29th to Sunday May 1st at Mastery Charter School-Thomas Campus. To find out more about LRC, read more here.
There are two workshops blocks at LRC--one on Saturday April 30th and the other on Sunday May 1st. In each session, campers can choose among 2-3 workshops to participate, with usually about 10-15 participants per workshop. Each workshop is 1.5 hrs along. Please note all workshop facilitators are volunteers. Facilitators are invited to join camp participants and volunteers for lunch after workshops.
[NEW] This year, we are will have tracks dedicated to either:
- Political Education: This track is a space dedicated to critical thinking about gender, race, space, and abilities and their intersection with music and our local Philadelphia landscape. For example, some past workshops that would fall under this track would be: * Gentrification in Philadelphia: Then & Now * Rock n Roll was Invented by a Black Queer Woman
- Music Makers Make It: This track is dedicated to sharing different creative and musical skills we don’t necessarily get to inside our rock camp structure! For example, some past workshops that would fall under this track would be: * Hip Hop Freestyle * Loop Your Voice: Intro to Loop Pedal Technique and Vocal Improvisation
In general at GRP, we also think a lot about gender, cultural appropriation in music, displacement/gentrification, futures, and ecosystems. We invite applicants to consider and tie these themes into their workshop proposal!
Applications open March 8th and the deadline is April 11th at noon. Apply here to lead a workshop today!
