Dear Friend,
Thank you so much for being a supporter and community member of Girls Rock Philly! Now more than ever, there is a need for organizations and people doing the work to enact powerful and positive change. As we celebrate our 10th Anniversary this year, it is still so important to be able to continue the work that we do now and well into the future. We are writing today to ask for your continued support through a donation to our 2016 Winter Fundraising Appeal: http://www.girlsrockphilly.org/donate/grpfutures/
GRP has always been committed to using the power of music to help identify and deconstruct gender-based oppression while addressing the ways it manifests in the lives of women, girls, and transgender and gender-nonconforming youth. Our program participants are smart, fearless, strong, thoughtful leaders who support and mentor each other in creative collaboration and in community-building advocacy.
This year’s election has brought many forms of bigotry to the surface in our country, including xenophobia, misogyny, anti-Semitism, and racism. We have seen waves of hate crimes and disheartening announcements from some of our most powerful political leaders. So many of our community members, youth and adults alike, are worried about their futures and what will happen in the fights for racial, gender, and other forms of justice and political freedom.
We, the Board of Directors of Girls Rock Philly, share these concerns and are committed to continuing to provide spaces where folks can support, learn from, and challenge one another through critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. We are dedicated to supporting our program participants and community members so that we can all empower each other to speak out and get involved in our communities, and we can’t do it without you.
Please consider making a donation to our Winter Fundraising Appeal this year (fully tax-deductible).
Our goal is to raise $10,000 by December 31st, and we need your help! If you are unable to donate at this time, please encourage your friends and family to do so.
Tell them why you love and support GRP, share our videos with them, tell them about your experiences at GRP, let them know how important it is to you that GRP continues for another 10 years. Please help us spread the word and continue to provide programming and supportive community spaces in Philadelphia.
