On Monday September 1st, we launched our 20 day countdown to the Sustaining our Sounds gala! Every day until the 2oth, we'll share 1 great reason for going to the gala and supporting GRP! It's going to be an awesome list, check back every day! And buy your tickets today HERE!

Reason #20 to come to the Gala and support self-empowerment through music education: Come to the gala because you support GRP being a lifeline for girls across the Philadelphia region! "GRP has been a lifeline for both my daughters. Reason #19: Take a stroll down memory lane and visit the past, present and future of Girls Rock Philly in our multi-disciplinary art show. There will be a variety of GRP artifacts, camper songs from yore, camper band tshirts, screenprinted posters, and lots more.  And... to celebrate the present, we'll be premiering our 2014 Camper Band/DJ Photos taken by the amazing Ryann Casey. 

Reason #18: Come experience "A taste of GRP". Meet the folks behind some the amazing food that has sustained us at GRP at all of our camps and events and enjoy it for yourself! Enjoy food and drink from Johnny Brenda's, Flying Monkey Bakery, Khyber Pass Pub, Philadelphia Brewing Co., Pizza Brain, Pescatore Restaurant NYC and more announced soon!

Reason #15: Ever wanted to learn how to DJ? Jealous of your camper kids and their instrument workshops? Now's your chance!!! Come to GRP's gala and enter our raffle to win lessons from some of GRP's favorite professional musicians! You will have the chance to win lessons for DJ, voice, bass, guitar, keys, drums-- and even yoga!

Reason #14: Fresh off a Northeast summer tour, Hot Tears will be performing and will also cover a 2014 summer camp band at the gala!!! Black metal influenced pop one human band from outer space. Translation: sounds awesome.

Reason #13: Open bar!! As if you needed another reason to come to this fantastic party GRP is hosting just for you, an open bar is included in the cost of your gala ticket. Come toast our sustainers and wonderful community of supporters on September 20th!

Reason #11: Come watch an amazing set from GRP volunteer Moor Mother Goddess! She leads incredible workshops at our summer camp and ladies rock camps. We love her and think you will too. And she'll be bringing with her the fantastic DJ Haram. MMGZ is: Low fi/dark rap/chill step/ blk girl blues/witch rap/coffee shop riot gurl songs/southern girl dittys/black ghost songs. Reason #10: From where we stand: the GRP 2014 CAMPER MIXTAPE! Today, 9/11/14, is the digital release day for our 2014 camp recording. Check it out on our GRP bandcamp page! 

Reason #9: Come experience our custom-made photobooth!! It was built (by a GRP sustainer) especially with GRP community and friends in mind.  Fun props and prompts will help you act like croissants, tigers, constipated whales, the Phillie Phanatic, and more, while getting your picture snapped with friends new and old. All photos will be available online after the event, or you can email them to yourself/ post them immediately! Don’t forget to put those pics online so everyone can see how awesome the GRP community is!

Reason #8: Summer Camp 2014 band, the Band Aids have been rehearsing at GRP and we were just notified that they're WRITING A NEW SONG to perform at the #GRPgala! Remember the Band Aids from the showcase? Take a listen!

Reason #7: Come to the gala because you support GRP's commitment to thoughtful analysis, community workshops and continuing education for all - political, musical or otherwise! Attend our next training on November 2. 

Reason #6: Little Chair Printing is going to the GRP Gala on a bicycle. This is Little chair's debut of the Bicycle Screen Printing Shop. This is a full service t-shirt printing mobile shop that exists on a cargo bike. Little Chair will be LIVE printing on site at the Gala with GRP t-shirt design, Come learn how to print your very own GRP T-shirt!!!

Reason #5: Come watch ZARR WITH 2 Rs perform their hits from Summer Camp, including Don't drop that education! Check out their awesome band photo! Brielle A.K.A #aprilfoolchild is a multifaceted artist, her musicality spanning from the stage to the mixing board. She is a singer/songrwriter, flautist, and producer/engineer. Her parents noticed her musical abilities at a very young age and initiated her involvement with music. Since the age of 6 she has been performing any and everywhere. No matter how small the venue, she has the ability to take the audience on a musical journey, engaging them from start to finish. Reason #4: Come to the gala this Saturday because your ticket directly supports new music in Philadelphia!!!!  We <3 you DJ LEX FACTOR!!!  Alexis learned how to DJ through Girls Rock Philly, and had the opportunity to pay it forward helping young girls find their voice through a mentoring program. She's excited for the #GRPGala on Saturday, and you should be too!

Reason #2: The grand unveiling of the ROCKTOPUS OF HONOR!!!!   One year ago we started our sustainer program -asking folks to support GRP with automatic monthly donations throughout the year. This program has since exploded with success. Tomorrow we're celebrating the very first folks who signed up as sustainers by dedicating the Rocktopus of Honor in their name.

and the #1 reason for why we're going to the gala TONITE....  to see all of YOU!!!!!  Come join us at Impact Hub (1227 N. 4th Street) from 6-10pm tonite and hang out with friends new and old as we celebrate you, our wonderful community, and honor our sustainers.  We're busy setting up the best party ever and can't wait to see you all!!!!!!
